Three Star Report

The Braves are 1-9 when Chris Sale gets two runs or fewer

Chris Sale gave the best team in baseball six innings, two runs, six strikeouts, and zero walks Friday afternoon. He lost 2-1.

Run support counts the runs Atlanta scores in the games he starts. Friday made it 10 of 23 starts with two runs or fewer. The Braves are 1-9 in those games. The one win was a 1-0 shutout on July 29, so even the win came on one run.

Give him three or more and they are 12-1.

His support averages five runs a start on the season. Four blowout nights of 13, 14, 15, and 10 runs carry that average.

We already wrote this one up. The pattern kept the receipt.

Two more in Milwaukee this weekend.
